Abstract
Reinforced concrete slab with plastic voids (Bubbled Deck system) is a new type of slabs which has two-dimensional arrangement of voids within the slab that is developed to decrease the slab self-weight while maintaining approximately the same load carrying capacity as compared with the solid slabs. Plastic voided slabs have the ability to reduce concrete amount by about 30 percent and this reduction is so important in terms of cost saving and enhancement the structural performance. In this research paper investigation is carried out to study the shear strength behavior of one-way bubble deck slab using self-compacting reinforced concrete. The experimental program consists of testing thirteen one-way slabs with dimensions of (1700 length, 700 width and 150 thick) mm. One of the tested slabs is a solid slab (without balls) is used as a reference, the remaining twelve bubbled slabs with ball diameter (73, 60) mm are divided into five groups according to the parameters of the experimental work, the parameters of the experimental work include: type of slab (bubble and solid slabs), ball diameter (73, 60) mm, shear reinforcement and spacing between balls. The experimental results showed that the bubbled slabs without shear reinforcement have a decrease in the ultimate load as compared to solid slab by about 3.7% to 14.3% and an increase in the deflection at ultimate load by about 10% to 22%, at the same time the first crack load decreases by about 15.3% to 42.4% as compared to solid slab due to decreases of moment of inertia of bubble slab compared to solid slab. Also, the results showed that the bubbled slabs withe shear reinforcement (multi-leg) have an increase in the ultimate load as compared to solid slab by about 35.4% to 57.3% and an increase in the deflection at ultimate load by about 1% to 15%, at the same time the first crack load decreases by about 2.8% to 27.4% as compared to solid slab.
Abstract
The research aims to improve the quality of the product through improving the quality of production processes by relying on the principle of quality control, the aim of this research is to identify the reality of quality control in the industrial public sector companies in Syria, and explaining the advantages of using the principle of quality control producing information and data that contribute to improve the quality of production, where the research was based on theoretical side to provide an explanation on the quality and its objectives and the principle of quality control and production processes, but on the practical side, the workers were surveyed at the General Company for Wool and Carpets in Hama._x000D_ To achieve the objective of the research and to prove or deny the impact of quality control on the quality of production processes was based on the descriptive analytical method and using the appropriate statistical methods, where statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS 19 program._x000D_ The statistical results have shown that there is a strong correlation between the quality control and improving the quality of production processes._x000D_ The researcher recommended the need to form an administrative structure or forming a team work to improve the quality or using the consultants and researchers in order to supervise on the principle of quality control.
Abstract
This paper introduce a new way to simulate the effect of changing the length and the band gap of the nanotube on the current of carbon nanotube field effect transistors (CNTFET( by using simulation tools: FETToy, CNTFET lab, CNT bands 2.0, since this simulation were done in different parameters of ZigZag nanotube. We use three simulations tools because each tool provides simulation of parameters that differ from the parameters of other tools, so we can study more parameters that we change which this article is studied._x000D_ In this paper we studied the effect of changing of ZigZag nanotube length which has a chirality (n,0) on the current of the CNTFET. We have found that the relationship between nanotube length and the current of the CNTFET is an inverse proportional, as the nanotube length increase, the current of CNTFET decrease, and the relation between the band gap of the ZigZag nanotube and current of the CNTFET has been studied too. We have found that this relationship is an inverse proportional, as the band gap increase, the current of CNTFET decrease. Also, we studied the relation between the band gap of the ZigZag nanotube and the average velocity of charges in CNTFET, we found that relationship is an inverse proportional, as the band gap increase, the average velocity of charges of CNTFET decrease.
Abstract
The non-woven materials industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world with the ability to produce materials in less time, specifications, and better prices. nonwoven materials are defined as a web of guided or random fibers that are bonded by friction, interlacement or adhesion. In this research, the rotary electrospinning system was used and a prototype was made to study the process and the complete visualization in terms of the correlation of the electrostatic forces to the formation of nanofibers by preparing polymeric solutions and exposing them to the electric field between the positive electrode (the serrated cylinder) and the Grounded electrode (plate) and produced high-precision fibers with a diameter (185nm) at 25 kV, whereas the installation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was with different concentrations and the formed fibers possessed an effective surface and deposited on a collector electrode forming nonwoven webs and high productivity is the most important feature of this system compared with the traditional electrospinning system.
Abstract
The partial shading conditions have a significant effect on the performance of Photovoltaic system and the ability of delivering energy. In this study, the impact of different partial shading on the mono crystalline (88W) PV module performance was investigated in this study. Horizontal string, vertical string, and single cell shading at different percentage of shading area have been studied. It is found that the horizontal string shading is more severe on the efficiency of the PV panel. In contrast, the efficiency of PV panel with cellular and vertical cell shading was less during the tests. The experimental results showed that the power losses were 99.8%, 66% and 56.8 % for horizontal, cellular and vertical shading respectively via applied non transparent material as shading element by 100% of shading area at 500 W/m2. Moreover, transparent material used to shade whole module horizontally, different shading area and different radiation level applied to find electrical characteristics of the module under these conditions. The results show that at 800W/m2 of irradiation levels and no shading condition the power was 68.6W, by increase shading area by 20% in each step, the power reducing by 44.94, 47.58, 49.42, 50.57 and 52.4% in compared with their initial value at no shading condition.
Abstract
In this work, the design procedure of a hybrid robust controller for crane system is presented. The proposed hybrid controller combines the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) properties with the sliding mode control (SMC) to obtain an optimal and robust LQR/SMC controller. The crane system which is represented by pendulum and cart is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The crane system is considered one of the highly nonlinear and uncertain systems in addition to the under-actuating properties. The parameters of the proposed LQR/SMC are selected using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method. The results show that the proposed LQR/SMC controller can achieve a better performance if only SMC controller is used. The robustness of the proposed controller is examined by considering a variation in system parameters with applying an external disturbance input. Finally, the superiority of the proposed LQR/SMC controller over the SMC controller is shown in this work.
Abstract
An experimental and theoretical study of free convection heat transfer for a cylinder placed in an iron test section of dimensions (0.2x0.2x0.2 m3), the test section filled with saturated porous material glass balls (5 mm), and the air is the working fluid with Raleigh number (7692.6 ? Ra ? 17654). The circular cylinder heater (D = 0.015 m, L = 0.2 m) is heated electrically, made of Copper and located in different positions (in X & Y direction). The theoretical part includes solving the free convection heat transfer using the ANSYS program (fluent). The experimental and theoretical results showed that the surface temperature values around the cylinder perimeter when changing its position within the test section are changing as moving up and down where the effect of buoyancy force appears. The maximum difference between the upper and lower position at the experimental result is 7.22%, and the average Nusselt number increases with Raleigh number and heat flux. Also, the experimental results showed that the use of porous material significantly improves the heat transfer by 48.6%. The maximum percentage change between the experimental and theoretical results is 5.46%. Moreover, experimental correlations were achieved, and a comparison was performed between the present results with the previous studies and it gives a good agreement.
Abstract
Forced vibration has been experimentally investigated on a model consists of circular pipe with1.6m length. The pipe built in tank (1.2m length, 0.6m height and 0.6m width) horizontally at 0.4m height with two different diameters d=15mm and d=35mm. The pipe conveying laminar flow in the fully developed region, of Reynolds number equals 2000. The experimental results of span pipe conveying water at five stations of forced excitation vibration were studied. The harmonic forced vibration with two different excitation frequencies (10 Hz and 15 Hz) are imposed at all of the five locations. The distance between two stations is (0.2m). Two conditions of pipe environment have been applied, the first in air and the other was immersed in water. It is concluded that the effect of flow induced vibration due to the pipe conveying fluid increases the maximum deflection when the fluid speed increases. The water surrounds the pipes reduce the effect of excitation vibration about (33 – 46%). The effect difference between the excitation frequencies was about (4 – 7%).
Abstract
This research study the rheological properties ( plastic viscosity, yield point and apparent viscosity) of non-Newtonian fluids under the addition of different chemical additives with different concentrations, such as (xanthan gum (xc-polymer) , carboxy methyl cellulose ( high and low viscosity ) ,polyacrylamide, polyvinyl alcohol, starch, quebracho, chrome lignosulfonate, and sodium chloride (NaCl). Fann viscometer model 800 with 8-speeds was used to measure the rheological properties of these samples, that have already been prepared. All samples were subjected to Bingham plastic model. It was concluded that the plastic viscosity, yield point and apparent viscosity should be increased with increasing the concentrations of (xanthan gum (xc-polymer) , carboxy methyl cellulose ( high and low viscosity ) ,polyacrylamide, polyvinyl alcohol, starch and sodium chloride (NaCl), while the opposite is true for quebracho, chrome lignosulfonate.
Abstract
This paper proposes robust control for three models of the linear inverted pendulum (one mass linear inverted pendulum model, two masses linear inverted pendulum model and three masses linear inverted pendulum model) which represents the upper, middle and lower body of a bipedal walking robot. The bipedal walking robot is built of light-weight and hard Aluminum sheets with 2 mm thickness. The minimum phase system and non-minimum phase system are studied and investigated for inverted pendulum models. The bipedal walking robot is programmed by Arduino microcontroller UNO. A MATLAB Simulink system is built to embrace the theoretical work. The results showed that one linear inverted pendulum is the worst performance, worst noise rejection and the worst set point tracking to the zero moment point. But two masses linear inverted pendulum models and three masses linear inverted pendulum model have a better performance, a better high-frequency noise rejection characteristic and better set-point tracking to the zero moment point.
Abstract
The aim of this study was to support surgeons to decide where to place the screws in order to achieve an optimal fracture healing and to prevent implant failure after a femoral shaft fracture So this paper focus on the analysis of bone-plate construct by using Finite element Analysis (FEA), comminuted femur fractured bone fixed with Dynamic Compression Plate (DCP) 16 holes by 4.5 Cortex screws, to investigate the effects of screws configuration on the mechanical behavior of different seven model as Interfragmentary strain which is the most important factor for femur fracture healing. The results state the relationships between the Von-Mises stress, Total deformation and Interfragmentary strain with respect to the screws configuration. The study shows the regions of maximum stress from stress distribution and also founded that we can decrease the Interfragmentary strain by increasing the number of screws.
