Al-Nahrain Journal for Engineering Sciences (NJES) is committed to the long-term preservation of its scholarly research. We adhere to best practices in digital archiving to ensure that our published content remains available to the scholarly community and future generations, regardless of any potential system failures or discontinuations.
1. Digital Preservation Systems To ensure the permanent availability of our content, NJES utilizes the following archiving systems:
LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): NJES participates in the LOCKSS program, an open-source software developed at Stanford University Library that allows libraries to collect, preserve, and provide their readers with access to our content. This distributed archiving system creates permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.
CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): NJES is also archived in CLOCKSS, a strict "dark archive" that ensures the long-term survival of Web-based scholarly publications. CLOCKSS serves as a fail-safe repository, guaranteeing that the content remains accessible to the global community even in the unlikely event that the journal ceases publication or is no longer hosted on its current platform.
2. National Repository In addition to international archiving systems, NJES is permanently archived in the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals (IASJ) database. This national repository ensures that all articles published by NJES are indexed, preserved, and accessible through the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq.
3. Author Self-Archiving NJES encourages authors to archive their own work to maximize visibility. Authors are permitted to deposit all versions of their work (Pre-print, Post-print, and the Final Published Version) in:
Institutional repositories.
Subject-based repositories.
Personal websites or academic profiles (e.g., ResearchGate).
