In an original article, an addition was made to the well-known Taguchi’s methodical design literature by proposing how Poisson distribution may be incorporated into the Taguchi method for enhanced performance analysis in optimization. While the article is recent, it was found compelling enough to apply this novel concept of Poisson distribution to a growing area of maintenance research known as maintenance downtime analysis. Consequently, this paper contributes to the expanding research neighborhood through a Taguchi optimization method based on Poisson distribution related to the maintenance process optimization. A valuable method to optimize maintenance downtime was developed wherein the Poisson distribution was used to achieve the probability of maintenance downtime. An important foundation of the method is the Taguchi scheme. These elements were transformed into the factor-level design of the Poisson enhanced Taguchi scheme while the framework was tested using data from a process industry for validation. Interesting, the Taguchi's signal-to-noise quotient led to an enhanced set of limiting factors for better reliability of the system as G1H1I1J1K3. By interpretation, the following was found: downtime (204.61 mins), probability density function (0.00187), and cumulative density function (0.00776). The combination of these factors and levels will enhance maintenance downtime in the process industry as a result of their contributions. The outcome revealed the competence of the model to optimization schemes.

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a modern solid-state joining process able to weld similar and dissimilar overlap joints in different classes of materials and is widely being considered for automotive industry. In this work, the mechanical behavior ) i.e. tensile shear tests, Microhardness(, and microstructure of friction stir spot welded joints were studied for AA6061-T6 aluminum alloy sheets with thickness of 1.6 mm. Series of FSSW experiments were conducted using vertical CNC milling machine type "C-tek". FSSW is carried out at different pin profiles (cylindrical, taper, and triangular) and tool rotational typically speeds, i.e. 800, 1000, 1200 and 1400 rpm. Based on the welding experiments conducted in this study, the results show that sheets welded by triangular pin tool have highest tensile shear load, of 3.2 kN, followed by welds with cylindrical pin, while welds made using taper pin has the tensile shear load 2.1 kN at optimum speed of 1200 rpm. Also the pin shape and rotational speed had an obvious effect on microstructural parameters i.e. hook height and bond width.
Concrete is considered the most important and widely used building material in the world of construction and building due to its durability, high efficiency in shaping, and relatively reasonable cost. The main component of concrete is cement, and one of the most important problems related to cement is the environmental problems associated with cement manufacturing, as the cement manufacturing process releases a large amount of carbon dioxide. Despite the essential role of concrete in construction, we cannot ignore its environmental impact. Some claim that exploring alternative materials or innovative building techniques would reduce the carbon footprint and enhance sustainability in the industry. Partial cement replacement with pozzolanic materials like zeolite is a key technique to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Zeolite, which reduces permeability, is a typical concrete ingredient that strengthens and lasts. Recently, natural zeolite has become a prominent concrete pozzolanic component. For environmental preservation and sustainable development, various experiments were done on concrete with pozzolanic components partially substituting cement and compared to ordinary concrete. A partial replacement of cement with zeolite improves the properties of concrete up to a certain age and mixing ratio. More than 44 relevant articles from 2004–2024 were selected from 762 papers evaluated for this paper. This paper reviews natural zeolite research in real applications. Additionally, it provided a cutting-edge review of natural zeolite literature through a critical analysis of various previous investigations. It also helped to understand how zeolite influences concrete mixture workability, strength, and durability. Since zeolite is a major concrete ingredient, it should be promoted as a sustainable resource.
Pick and place system is one of the significant employments of modern robots utilized in industrial environments. The objective of this research is to make a comparison of time sequences by combining multiple axes of sequences. A pick-place system implemented with pneumatic linear double-acting cylinders to applicator in automated systems processes for manufacturing. The challenge of 3-axes movement control was achieved using the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) controller such that the merging between two or three axes was achieved according to the selected sequence of the program. The outcomes show the contrasted sequences and the reference in a constant velocity. The main variable parameter is the number of steps for each sequence. The combination of two axes has developed the sequence and reduced in number of sequences for a path. At last, one of the important factors in moving products industry is the smooth product’s movement, because any high speed might cause a vibration in the system and lead to a decreased positioning accuracy.
The heavy metals are considered dangerous pollutants which harm health and environment. The adsorption process is the cost effective process to get-rid of heavy metal efficiently. In this study, the adsorption bed of Nickel is simulated by using COMSOL Multiphysics to find the effect of different operating parameters namely; flow rate, temperature and pollutant concentration on adsorption bed efficiency. The modeling of non-isothermal adsorption bed based on experimental isotherms kinetic of previous work is developed too. The results showed that the optimal conditions to generate maximum removal efficiency of heavy metal were at 50?C inlet temperature, 0.1 M inlet concentration, and 80 ml/min flow rate to achieve removal values higher than 50 % of long operation period time.
The standardization and preprocessing decisions determine the performance, reproducibility and generalizability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models in cervical spine Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). In this research, the author suggests a six-step standardized preprocessing pipeline that can help with the reliable analysis of heterogeneous MRI data using AI. It is obtained by the pipeline based on recurrent methodological patterns found in the literature, focusing on the operations reported to stabilize image intensity distribution and reduce unwanted sources of variability. A systematic literature review was screened on 2,882 records, and 43 articles were included per the inclusion criteria. Due to the large variability of imaging procedures, preprocessing plans, and reported outcomes metrics, no quantitative meta-analysis was performed and a qualitative synthesis was done. Basic methods such as segmentation, denoising, intensity normalization, augmentation, bias-field correction were consistently reported to improve AI performance. Studies evaluating tasks such as normalization and automated segmentation reported accuracies of 94% to 99.95%. Moreover, less-specific harmonization methods like Combatting Batch Effects (ComBat), z-score normalization and histogram matching, and Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based ones were also often attributed with lower scanner- and site-based variations. Regardless of these improvements, the AI workflow remains unstable because of the irregularity of predefined parameters, unequal standards of acquisition, and lack of methodological reporting. In efforts to deal with such challenges, the current work proposes a methodical six-stage preprocessing model that consists of quality control, noise removal, intensity normalization, anatomical segmentation, harmonization and validation. The suggested workflow model offers a practical and transparent basis of clinically translatable AI usage in cervical spine MRI based on conventional mathematical equations and clear documentation.
The separation of water from crude oil emulsions is a critical and complex challenge in petroleum production and processing. Water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions increase viscosity, pose corrosion risks, reduce refining efficiency, and raise significant environmental concerns. Traditional separation methods often struggle with stable emulsions containing small droplets due to limitations in cost, environmental impact, and effectiveness. Electro-coalescence demulsification has emerged as a promising technique that applies electric fields to enhance droplet coalescence, facilitating efficient water removal. This comprehensive review examines the influence of electrode geometry on electro-coalescence systems in depth, synthesizes key findings from numerous studies, and provides a detailed analysis of electrode spacing calculations, critical conditions for effective demulsification, and optimal operational parameters. By exploring these aspects comprehensively, the review offers insights into how electrode design affects demulsification efficiency, guiding future advancements in crude oil processing and contributing to more sustainable practices in the petroleum industry.
The non-woven materials industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world with the ability to produce materials in less time, specifications, and better prices. nonwoven materials are defined as a web of guided or random fibers that are bonded by friction, interlacement or adhesion. In this research, the rotary electrospinning system was used and a prototype was made to study the process and the complete visualization in terms of the correlation of the electrostatic forces to the formation of nanofibers by preparing polymeric solutions and exposing them to the electric field between the positive electrode (the serrated cylinder) and the Grounded electrode (plate) and produced high-precision fibers with a diameter (185nm) at 25 kV, whereas the installation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was with different concentrations and the formed fibers possessed an effective surface and deposited on a collector electrode forming nonwoven webs and high productivity is the most important feature of this system compared with the traditional electrospinning system.

In term of sustainable practices, recycling plays a crucial role, particularly in the construction industry where the disposal of old structures generates significant waste. Recycling old concrete not only reduces the need for new natural resources but also eliminate waste accumulation. Numerous research study the behaviors of recycled aggregate concretes, practically focusing on the long term behaviours. A large number of studies have demonstrated that concrete made from recycled aggregate exhibits poorer long-term characteristics in comparison to aggregate from nature concrete. The long-term behaviour can be affected by three factor which is creep, shrinkage and tension stiffening. Greater management of these variables can enhance the RAC's long-term properties. The review will specifically focus on the influence of time dependent parameters i.e., creep, shrinkage, and loss of tension stiffening with time. Furthermore, it will explore the long-term deflection predicted from code used for deflection prediction, considering three codes: ACI, EC2, and the CSA code. The purpose of this paper is to enhance the understanding of long-term deflection of recycled aggregate concrete beam and evaluate the effectiveness of various factors that impact their structural performance.
Providing a clean and high quality drinking water to both rural as well as urban areas is a great challenge by itself, adding to it the large volume requirements of such water at high population areas means a very high cost for such industry because mainly of the cost of expensive commercially available adsorbent used in this process. This led inhabitants of the remote and/or rural areas to use less quality water with all its risks and health challenges. In this study, a locally collected rice husk is tested to be used as an alternative adsorbent to the expensive common commercial ones. Parameters like adsorbent dosage, initial concentration of turbidity, and pH level were tested to investigate their effects on the process. Treatment of synthetic turbid water was done after changing these parameters to measure the effect of each parameter alone and the results showed a set of parameters that can be used to achieve high efficiency of turbidity removal. The study concluded that rice husk can be used as a well cheap alternative adsorbent to reduce the river water turbidity due to its availability and low cost with a decent removal efficiency approaching 95%.
In this research, experimental and analytical deep drawing of the several-stages design mold is produce hexagonal cup and also proved the influence of the thickness of the sheet on the allocation of strain and laminating in curvature of the cup area for all stages of the drawing. Three stages deep drawing mold was designed and constructed to carry out the experimental work required to produce a hexagonal cup of (28.25 mm by 24.5 mm) , (60 mm) high drawn from a circular flat sheet (80 mm diameter), made from low carbon steel (1006–AISI). Analysis program (ANSYS11.0) to perform the finite element method to accomplish the analytical side of the search. Three types of thickness sheet (tt°= 0.5, 0.7,1 mm) with constant radius of curvature of punch equal to (RRpp =4) mm, radius of curvature of die equal to (RRdd=8 mm)and radius of curvature of wall of die (RRcc= 4 mm) were used. From the experimental and analytical results of the three stages of drawing, it has been found that drawing load less than the more advanced stages of drawing operation on the wall of cup, maximum laminating take place at curvature of the cup area with sheet thickness equal to (tt°=0.5 mm) and maximum thickeningtake place at the at throat cup with sheet thickness equal to (tt°=1 mm), the maximum values of strains (radial, hoop, thickness andeffective)take place at throat cup with sheet thickness equal to (tt°=1 mm).
Searching for an optimal alternative to normal cement concrete (NCC) is an urgent need nowadays in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, reduce energy, and reduce waste materials. Therefore, this research aims to examine zero cement concrete (ZCC) slabs under monotonic loads with several paramedic studies including slab thickness (60mm, 80mm, 100 mm), bar spacing (75mm, 150mm, and 225mm), and molarity concentration (6M, 8M, and 10M). The results showed the behavior of reinforced ZCC slabs is similar to or slightly lower than that of normal cement concrete. Increasing slab thickness from 60 mm to 80 mm and 100 mm enhanced the slab stiffness, increased the applied loads, and reduced the vertical mid-span deflection. Decreasing bar spacing by 33.33% and 66.67% relative to 225 mm reduced also the deflection. The energy absorption was increased due to increasing the slab thickness and bar spacing. When the load increased, the slabs eventually failed by a typically visible punching cone (punching shear).
Electrospinning is a simple and highly versatile method for generating ultrathin fibers (mainly polymers) with diameters ranging from a few micrometres to tens of nanometres. This technique has attracted tremendous recent interest in both academia and industry, owing to its unique ability to produce ultrafine fibers of different materials in various fibrous assemblies. Electrospinning is a process that uses an electric potential to overcome the surface tension of a solution to produce an ultra-fine jet, which elongates, thins and solidifies as it travels through the electric field to a collector.. In this research, we studied the effect of conditions of the cabin “specifically humidity” on the diameter of nanofibers manufactured by electrospinning. We used Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymeric solution with weight concentration of 10%, voltage 20 kv, under different values of relative humidity. Fiber morphology and fiber diameter were determined using scanning electron microscope, and measuring the fiber diameter by using image j program. It was found that the diameter of the fibers increased with increasing the relative humidity within our studying area .
Solar panels are constantly evolving, with changes occurring in the materials used, panel shapes, and the method used to attach solar cells to the panels. Solar radiation consists of two components: photovoltaic energy, which is used to generate electricity via photovoltaic panels, and thermal energy, which, on the other hand, can reduce the efficiency of photovoltaic panels. Thermal photovoltaic panels are a recent breakthrough in the industry as they use light to generate energy and heat to reheat cryogenic liquid for a variety of purposes. One subtype that is gaining popularity is hybrid photovoltaic thermal panels, which are designed to enhance heat use by adding a heat storage medium, with phase change materials being a noteworthy example. Despite their numerous benefits, these materials have limited heat conductivity, necessitating substantial research efforts to improve this attribute. However, most research focus solely on enhancing conductivity without applying the findings to PV panels in a comprehensive manner. This study fills this gap by reviewing the phase change materials accessible locally, picking Iraqi wax, researching additions, selecting micro- particles of aluminum oxide (Al2O3), investigating the mixing procedure, and calculating the ideal mixing ratio (6% additive to wax). The combination is then placed to a normal solar panel, resulting in a hybrid photovoltaic panel with a complicated phase transition material reinforced with aluminum oxide.
